Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Quandary ("Quandary", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Quandary website and app at quandary.live (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Quandary is a social platform built around public questions and answers. Please read Section 3 carefully — some of the content you create is visible to the public and to search engines by design.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by Quandary, contactable at hello@quandary.live. For privacy questions, you can reach us at the same address. If you are in the EEA/UK: our postal address is 91 Rue Cherbourg, Candiac, Quebec J5R 6S1.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

3. Public content — please read

Quandary is a public platform. The questions you post, the answer options, aggregate vote results, and replies (together with the display name/username attached to them, unless posted anonymously) may be visible to anyone, including people without an account, and may be indexed by search engines such as Google and appear in search results.

We also generate shareable result images and public pages from this content. Please do not post anything you would not want to be public. Where you choose to post or vote anonymously, we apply measures so your identity is not shown alongside that content, but you should still avoid including personal information in the content itself.

4. How we use your information

5. Legal bases (for EEA/UK users)

Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Service you signed up for); consent (for marketing emails and non-essential analytics/cookies, which you may withdraw at any time); legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Service); and legal obligation where required by law.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

ProviderPurpose
SupabaseDatabase, authentication, and file storage
NetlifyWebsite hosting and delivery
ResendSending emails
PostHogProduct analytics and session recording
Google"Sign in with Google" authentication (only if you use it)

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer.

7. International transfers

Our providers may process your information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.

8. Cookies & tracking

We use cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in, and analytics technologies (PostHog) to understand usage. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of analytics as described in Section 10.

9. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Note that content posted publicly may persist in caches or search-engine indexes outside our control for some time.

10. Your rights & choices

To exercise any of these, email hello@quandary.live. EEA/UK users also have the right to complain to their local data-protection authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and opt out of "sales"/"sharing" (we do not sell your data).

11. Children

Quandary is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use technical and organizational measures — including access controls, database row-level security, and encryption in transit — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
