Would you rather have to sing every 10th word you say or not hear every 3rd word someone says to you?
When singing, it’s full-on opera note - minimum of 3-seconds. For hearing, it’s only direct conversation (calls, in-person chatter and group discussions included) but not movies, music etc.

You can also ask to repeat but you still don’t hear their every 3rd word in their response
I would choose to not hear every 3rd word. I could piece together the majority of sentences after practice, and any crucial words I miss I would simply ask them to repeat only that word.
